The setting up the most anticipated hifi shop in KL has been progressing quite well. Recently, I had the opportunity to chit chat with TK Han and Shaiful Anuar of YY Sounds Systems about their shop and also other hifi related topics. On a Saturday, 29th July, I spent tth morning with both of them and also a fellow hifi enthusiasts Wahyudhy Zukara discussing about their vision of this shop especially on making it as Asia central hub for Gryphon.
We started off with TK Han explaing the set up they have in the shop now ranging from Gryphon, CH Precision, Magico and TechDAS among others.
We then proceed with the chit chat on the following:
The overall plan of YY Sound Systems in setting up tth shop in GLOMAC mall.
Level of sound treatment. They are going more towards a live ambient for the set up.
The challenges they face in achieving the sound they want guests to experience
How they choose test tracks

The hifi experience they offer to guests
We ended the session with a listening session to both digital and analogue sources.

After a very successful hifi event back in January to launch the Gryphon EOS 2 speakers, YY Sound Systems and Reference Audio are now in the midst of opening up a dedicated shop for audiophiles to audition products of Gryphon, CH Precision, Jadis and Magico. Targeted to be fully open before the mid year of 2023, a temporary lot has been set up at Lot 1.13, Level 1, Glo Damansara.
I had the opportunity to go and listen to the currently available set up on 11th March 2023.

Given the open space and also the acoustically untreated room, the sound was still undeniably enjoyable. The Gryphon amplification and speakers are really engaging and coupled with digital sources from CH Precision, I do believe it will be a one fine set up once the main room is fully constructed.

2023 started with a bang with the first hifi event organised by YY Audio and Reference Audio Singapore over the weekend of 14th and 15th January. This Gryphon EOS 2 Speakers launch event was held in The Concorde Hotel, Kuala Lumpur where 3 different set ups was showcased. The main set up featured the EOS 2 speakers in which kept me entertained for 1 hour solid. The EOS 2 was matched with top end Gryphon equipment such the Ethos CD Player, Antileon EVO Stereo power amp, Essence pre amp.
We also had the pleasure to listen to Rune Skov, Gryphon Global Sales Director briefing of what the EOS 2 is all about Another marvelous piece of engineering translated into a mesmerizing performance of musicality. How would I describe the EOS 2 performance? I purposely sat at the very rear of the room to see how these relatively small-ish floorstanders performs in this large room. Rated at 89 dB sensitivity, the EOS had no issue to fill up the room while maintaining its musicality, fluidity without any signs of strain nor stress. One can enjoy the music regardless where you are seated in the listening room.
The overall performance leans towards good clarity and details. really sweet and melodious highs with no signs of high pitched signals. These are complimented by subtle but impactful bass response.
Priced at Euro 22,000 a pair, it is one of well engineered speakers. Each aspect of the speaker designs serves a purpose to the overall big and lively sound delivered during the session.
The 2nd Set Up
The 2nd set up at the event comprised of a simpler equipment. An integrated Diablo 120 and an ASUS MiniPC streamer as a source matched with a pair of Magico speakers.
The 3rd Set Up
The mighty Gryphon Pantheon speakers was set up in the 3rd room matched with the Diablo 300 and Melco streamer and CH Precision DAC as source. One can appreciate how beautiful the Pantheon is in both looks and performance. It will definitely deliver more if it is paired with a pre and power combo amplification.
Overall, this was actually a very well organised event by plus it was all fun to be able to enjoy music with other fellow audiophiles. Kudos and congratulations to the organiser for this wonderful event especially to the lead project manager, Mr. Shaiful Anuar Sulaiman.
