It was a double whammy hifi shop visit today. The second visit for the day was to witness the launch of HiFi ROSE latest product; the RS130 stand alone dedicated streamer transport without a built in DAC. Thank you to Nelson and his Centre Circle Audio (CCA) team for the invitation. Of course, as one of the earlier adopter of HiFi ROSE product, I have always been impressed with the amount features being packed into the product and ultimately, the stability of the firmware and OS. I currently is using the flagship RS150 streamer but eventhough its a fully functioning stand alone streamer with DAC, I still connect it to an external DAC. So, I was intrigued to listen to this RS130
The event started at about 3 pm with some excellent demo by the CCA team. The set up used to show case the RS130 was of course a very capable and highly praised equipment which includes Mola Mola, Aries Cerat among others.
The 1st impression of the RS130 was definitely an engaging one. With the jazz number that was played by Oscar Peterson Trio, the bass was solid and deep. The snazzy sound of the snare play was so detailed that it made start to gesturing my drummer's act. The piano sounded melodious and sweet. One might say that the whole system is giving me the whole presentation but I always believe as well that the source itself is the first thing that makes a system sounds good.
The launch event then continued with the RS130 product explanation. While it looks like my RS150, there is a long list of design changes internally on this new product. Some of the key design change that intrigued me were:
- Fiber optic USB
- Fiber optic ethernet
- Applied SSD for music caching
- External master clock output
- High precision OCXO
Like I always say, a hifi event in Malaysia will not be complete without makan2. After an hour of music bliss, guests were treated with some refreshments. The usual suspects of the local audiophile industry were present the evening just went into light chit chat session
If you are looking for a new stand alone, dedicated streamer transport, do contact Centre Circle Audio for a demo of this new RS130.
